Bellgap

For working parents, guardians and the grown-ups who help

Every no-school day, covered.

School closes on more weekdays than most jobs give off. Bellgap counts those days, lets you pick who covers each one, and shows the gaps while there is still time to fill them.

Bellgap Pass $1.95 a month or $19.50 a year per board: free during preview.

The math nobody does in August

32 days off school. 30 to cover. 15 still open.

A made-up family, worked out by the same Gap Count you can use: 32 weekdays with no school (four of them early-release half days, so 30 full days to cover). Family help takes 5, Parent A spends 6 days of leave, Parent B 4. That leaves 15 days: at $45 a day of paid care, $675 nobody had budgeted.

Run my own numbers

Three steps, one board

  1. 1

    Type the days

From your own school's calendar: holidays, breaks (add a whole break at once), teacher days, conference days, early releases. Weekdays only.

  2. 2

    Pick who covers

An adult using leave, family or a friend, a swap with another family, or paid care with its price. Early releases count half a day of leave.

  3. 3

    Close the gaps

Coral days are still open. Leave bars turn red when someone is booked past what they have. Print the fridge sheet; with the Pass, each adult gets their own calendar file.

The days that sneak up

Most calendars mark them in small print. Bellgap gives each kind its own row so none of them hide.

How to read a school calendar for days off
  • HolidaysDays the school is closed for a holiday on a weekday.
  • Break daysWeekdays inside winter, spring or other breaks.
  • Teacher work daysNo school for students; staff work.
  • Conference daysParent-teacher conference days with no classes.
  • Early-release daysShort days. Counted as half a day each.
  • Spare days for closuresWeather or emergency closures nobody can date ahead. A guess.

See what each plan holds

No account. No email. Nothing about your children.

  • A private link is the key. Bellgap stores only a fingerprint of it, so we cannot look your board up.
  • Sealed at rest. The board is encrypted with a key made from your link; a copy of the database alone cannot read it.
  • Adults only. There is no field for a child's name, age, grade or school, and you never need one.
